In collaboration with Salomon, we asked 10 different hikers from all over the UK to share with us their favourite routes in 10 of the UK's 14 National Parks: featuring the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales, Northumberland, the Peak District, the Cairngorms, Snowdonia, the North Yorkshire Moors, Loch Lomond, Dartmoor and the South Downs.

Take a look at this Collection and find some inspiration for your next adventure!

Here are our 10 National Treasures:

1. NORTHUMBERLAND – THE DRAKESTONE CIRCUIT (2.1 miles)

The Drakestone and Harbottle lake are real hidden gems in the Northumberland national park. This small loop offers some of the best views the county has to offer.

2. THE PEAK DISTRICT - MAM TOR (8.2 miles)

The drama of Mam Tor is so epic that this hike starts and ends there – frankly, seeing it once just isn’t enough. This part of the Peak District is all deep dales, high moorland, bleak melodrama and huge panoramas.

The terrain underfoot is a mixture of stone slabs, rocky trails, muddy sections and earthen paths so hiking boots with good grip are essential. The Salomon CrossHike GORE-TEX Walking Boots are an ideal choice.

3. SNOWDONIA - Y GARN (6.5 miles)

Starting at Ogwen Cottage at the western end of the stunning Lake Ogwen, this is an absolutely classic hike that puts you right in the midst of some of Snowdonia’s most awe-inspiring scenery. The trails are rocky and, in some places, have sheer drops but don’t actually require any technical skills.

On this hike I wore Salomon Predict Hike Mid GORE-TEX boots. The perfect footwear for any given path, ensuring a comfortable stride, with long lasting cushioning. A great all-rounder with GORE-TEX to keep the weather out.

This hike can get very muddy, especially after rain so be prepared with your footwear and ensure you have good grip. The Salomon X ULTRA 4 MID GORE-TEX Hiking Shoes were a great option as I definitely benefited from some extra ankle support.

6. YORKSHIRE DALES - KELD TO TAN HILL INN LOOP (10.8 miles)

The highest Pub in the UK? Talk about a national treasure! But it’s not just that. There are quite a few waterfalls on the way, which is a good enough reason for choosing this route, plus a pub half-way round can’t hurt.

I wore the Salomon X ULTRA 4 MID GORE-TEX Hiking Shoes and they were extremely comfortable, although I did have to wear a bigger size than normal to make sure they fit perfectly and are not too tight for longer walks. The quick lacing system is great on these and kept me nice and secure throughout the whole walk!

7. THE LAKE DISTRICT – HELM CRAG (2.7 miles)

This wonderful Lakeland hike heads to the summit of Helm Crag AKA as ‘The Lion and The Lamb’, because of the uniquely-shaped rocks at the pinnacle.

The descent was steep and slippery at times so I was grateful for the grip on my Salomon Predict Hike Mid GORE-TEX Walking Boots and my walking poles. I walked past bags of boulders and rocks that seemed to indicate that steps may be put in place along this path to make the descent easier in future.

The Salomon shoes were incredibly comfortable. I have narrow feet and can often find myself with too much space in the toe box, but these were a perfect fit. I found that even on the descent, my feet didn’t move around too much in the boots, which meant a blister-free day and very happy feet.

8. SOUTH DOWNS WAY - BEACHY HEAD (18 miles)

A long but technically easy 18-mile loop taking in coastal views, river walking and rolling countryside hills. Most of the route is on grassy trails or stony paths.

Some of the grassy trails can be quite muddy so do wear appropriate footwear! I can confirm the Salomon CrossHike GORE-TEX Walking Boots were perfect for this hike!

10. LOCH LOMOND & THE TROSSACHS - THE COBBLER (6.8 miles)

The Cobbler, or Ben Arthur, is one of the most distinctive mountains in Scotland, offering incredible views of the surrounding area. This popular climb is technical and rugged and therefore requires some scrambling skills, providing a real challenge and sense of adventure for any outdoor enthusiast.

For this hike I wore the Salomon X-ULTRA 4 GTX, a hiking shoe that is as agile as a trail-running shoe and one which provides all the stability, grip and waterproof protection you need to tackle technical terrain. And aside from performance, I just love the colour and style!
